Tech Alpharetta 2021 Year in Review

by | Blogs

In 2021, the challenges posed by the continued pandemic inspired digital transformation across industries, and the blinding speed of tech innovation in the metro area shows no sign of slowing down. Thanks to trailblazing startup founders, as well as the entities, organizations, programs, and incubators working to guide and support them, the metro ecosystem has begun to gain national recognition as a hub for new technology. With that recognition has come a record level of investment in tech startups throughout the state–more than $3 billion in the first 3 quarters of 2021 alone, according to Atlanta Inno.

We’re proud of our Tech Alpharetta startup founders, who contribute to the recognition of the metro ATL area as a tech hub, and to the growth of Alpharetta’s own innovation ecosystem. Our startups have raised more than $150 million in investor funding, and our 17 graduate companies, which include cyber security, clean energy, medical device companies, and more, have grown more than 800 new jobs for Alpharetta, and more than 1700 new jobs for the state of Georgia, since Tech Alpharetta first opened its incubator in 2015.

In 2021, we also brought a record level of programming to the tech community at large, hosting 46 events. 44 of those were virtual and hybrid thought leadership and educational programs that served interested tech professionals, regardless of their geographic location. And while our first-annual Golf Tournament was washed out by unusually monsoon-like conditions this past September, we’re excited to bring that tournament back to The Manor Golf & Country Club this September 19th, to provide a (sunny) day of networking and golf for area tech executives, while raising funds for Tech Alpharetta’s STEAM mentoring programs.

We closed out our 2021 programming by bringing back our popular, in-person holiday mixer earlier this month, which was a tremendous hit with both the tech community and our Board members.

As 2021 draws to a close, I want to say a big thank you to our Board members, our sponsors, the City of Alpharetta’s leadership, our incubator members and mentors, and to you, our tech community, for all of your support. We’re looking forward to exceeding your expectations in 2022!

Best,

Karen
