by | Blogs

The ninth episode in Tech Alpharetta’s Driving Innovation podcast series features Mitch Windom, Manager of Talent Acquisition for the Lottery Group at Scientific Games. Windom has been with the company since 2011 and is responsible for the recruitment of U.S. employees. Scientific Games has been actively involved in the local tech community and innovating in talent acquisition and retention.

Scientific Games provides technology services and products to casinos, lotteries and online sports betting groups across the U.S. and internationally. With global Lottery Group headquarters in Alpharetta since 1992, the company serves 150 lotteries worldwide. The Alpharetta facility is also Scientific Games’ largest of five instant ‘scratch-off’ manufacturing facilities, producing 2 billion scratch off tickets per month for North American lotteries including the Georgia Lottery. It’s also where most of the company’s lottery tech innovation develops.

Just about 1,000 of 9,400 Scientific Games employees are based at its Alpharetta campus. Windom believes being located in Alpharetta has contributed to the company’s success and ability to source skilled tech talent.  “Alpharetta offers a fantastic quality of life for our employees,” added Windom. “The schools, parks, recreation and housing options available make it a great place to live and work.”

Scientific Games employees serve on area boards and committees, and Scientific Games has worked with Tech Alpharetta for many years, participating on its strategic board, in events and through sponsorship.

The company’s Lottery Group has a history of high employee retention rates. “It’s not uncommon to see employees who have been here more than 15 years,” said Windom “This is a true testament to the company’s culture and values of Integrity, Team Spirit, Creativity and Fun.”

With retail and digital sales of lottery games in North America exploding over the last year, Scientific Games is currently hiring for more than 100 positions in Alpharetta, including many in tech and IT fields.
